Pregnancy Massage

....You're in Capable Hands!

How does a Pregnancy Massage work?

A prenatal (pregnancy) massage is a gentle form of therapeutic massage specifically adapted for someone who is pregnant. It aims to help relieve common pregnancy discomforts while keeping both the mother and baby safe, from the second trimester onwards.

What does a prenatal massage involve?

You’ll usually lie on your side, supported by pillows or specialist pregnancy cushions. The therapist uses light-to-moderate pressure and techniques designed to ease muscle tension without putting unnecessary pressure on the abdomen. Common areas include the lower back, hips, legs, shoulders and neck, depending on your needs.

What are the benefits?

Prenatal massage may help with lower-back and hip discomfort, muscle tension and stiffness, swelling or feelings of heaviness in the legs, stress and relaxation and sleep and general wellbeing.

What happens during a session?

For an uncomplicated pregnancy, prenatal massage is generally considered safe when performed by someone trained in pregnancy massage. However, it's sensible to speak with your midwife or doctor first, particularly if you have any pregnancy complications or medical conditions.
